iHireOptometry added 8,812 new optometry jobs throughout the month of September (a slight increase of approximately 230 jobs over August’s numbers). Although New York retained the number one spot on our list of top metropolitan areas, there was a fair amount of change with Los Angeles beating out Chicago for second place and Boston and Dallas-Fort Worth knocking Miami and Washington DC out of the top five completely.

On the optometry job seeker side, opticians, optometrists, and optical assistants/office staff continue to account for the most candidates per job title. After a significant spike in August, the number of unique visitors to the site returned to a number closer to the site’s historical average (20,133).
