Here’s how Ben Casselman of The New York Times reacted to today’s report:
“Stepping back for a second, the concern at the end of the year was that the remarkable resilience of the U.S. job market was beginning to crack. Job growth had stalled. Unemployment was rising. Today’s report won’t put those concerns entirely to rest, but it does suggest that the labor market is still hanging in there, showing decent — albeit slow, and relatively narrow — job growth, and still-low unemployment.”
