Data Warehouse Developer (Frederick, MD)

iHire, an award-winning employment site headquartered in Downtown Frederick, MD, is seeking a Data Warehouse Developer to join our team. As a Subject Matter Expert for our Analytics and Business Insights Team, you will focus on the design, development, and delivery of business intelligence solutions. These solutions may include expansion and maintenance of our data warehouse, as well as development of dashboards, scorecards, reports, user interfaces, and their associated database design. If you have experience in data structures and development using Microsoft technology (SQL Server), Pentaho Data Integration and Reporting (Kettle/Spoon), and other analytics and reporting tools, we’re looking for you!

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Leading projects that design and deliver data models, Analysis Services/OLAP (Mondrian) cubes, and other data structures such as ODS, data marts, and data warehouse databases in response to business requirements.
  • Designing and developing reports, dashboards, and KPIs.
  • Attaining knowledge of data warehouse architecture and practicing Lean/Agile development methods and techniques.
  • Utilizing Microsoft and Pentaho Business Intelligence-based tools (Pentaho PDI, Pentaho BA, Excel pivot tables, Power Pivot, etc.) for DW solutions.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • BS degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience as a database developer designing and developing data architecture solutions with more than 2 years of experience specializing in data architecture or data analytics.
  • A broad set of technical skills and knowledge across applications, databases, and solutions development as well as expertise in more than one technical domain.
  • Hands-on experience in the design of successful business data analytics solutions.
  • Ability to write stored procedures and code to implement extract, transform, and load methodologies, recognize/implement common data patterns and best practices, identify data monitoring, and analyze/resolve data load issues by working with the business and technical teams.
  • Passion for databases and a work hard, play hard mentality.

DevOps Engineer (Frederick, MD)

iHire, an award-winning employment site headquartered in Downtown Frederick, MD, is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our team. You will provide direct devops engineering support for the build and release process for internally developed software applications. You will also provide support for software applications, active configuration of applications, websites, services, integration, maintenance, and upgrading of third-party software as well as operational networks, computer systems, and other IT infrastructure. Additionally, you will be responsible for installing software/upgrades, monitoring systems, and responding to operational issues on a rotating schedule to ensure high service levels 24x7x365.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Writing SQL scripts to create, optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain SQL databases.
  • Performing overall system administration tasks for Windows Servers, Linux systems, Email (Exchange), DNS, and Active Directory.
  • Managing Linux open source applications.
  • Developing PowerShell, batch scripts, and Linux shell scripts for automation, monitoring, and operations maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshooting application, middleware, and database performance bottlenecks.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • 4-year degree in computer science or closely related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience developing, debugging, maintaining, or managing software applications and related systems.
  • Passion for devops and a work hard, play hard mentality.
