Job Summary and QualificationsThe Pharmacy practice resident fulfills the requirements of the PGY-1 Residency Program at North Florida Regional Medical Center.
This position provides clinical services, staffing services, on-call services, and drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists as a primary responsibility. The pharmacy resident completes a longitudinal research project leading to the development of a manuscript for publication. The resident works on a number of additional projects, along with the primary longitudinal project, that lead to formal presentations at the regional residency conference and national pharmacy associations meetings. The Resident assists with the education of pharmacy students from colleges of pharmacy.
- Provide clinical pharmacy services, promoting safe and rational use of medications to improve patient outcomes
- Coordinate the delivery of clinical pharmaceutical care to assigned areas
- Provide pharmaceutical care through appropriate, safe, and cost-effective drug therapy protocol/policies
- Maintain strong knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations and dispense medications accordingly
- Consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors, and complaints
- Determine and consult on possible drug interactions
- Assist in the supervision and training of pharmacy technician personnel
- Participate in drug utilization review
- Assist with quality improvement initiatives, inventory, and ordering of pharmaceuticals
- Monitor, record, and communicate as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems
- Utilize knowledge of age specific needs of patients in performance of duties and responsibilities
- Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
- Participate in educational activities such as pharmacy student case conferences, student journal clubs, and other student development projects. Perform in mentored residency research and present findings in the form of a poster and/or formal presentation at national and regional pharmacy organizational meetings
- Supports and adheres to HCA Code of Conduct, related Ethics and Compliance policies, and HIPAA requirements.
- Supports and adheres to personnel policies and programs which specify privileges and responsibilities of employment, including compliance with an adverse incident reporting system, quality improvement program, patient safety initiatives, and risk management program.
- Displays willingness to speak up about safety issues or change practices to enhance safety; asks for help when needed; enhances teamwork; follows the safety literature/policies.
What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate from an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program
- Pharmacist License in the State of Florida required within 90 days of hire
