Project Engineer (Fiber Data Center Construction)

Summary:
The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager and acts as the link between the field and office. This role focuses on documentation, communication, and ensuring projects stay aligned with plans and timelines. Key tasks include managing submittals, RFIs, change orders, test reports, drawings, and project records. Clear and consistent communication across the project team is critical.

Position Details:

  • Salaried (based on experience)
  • Schedule: M–F starting at 7am (up to 10-hour days); occasional Saturdays
  • Location: New Albany, OH

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of construction experience in a similar role
  • Experience with structured cabling or data center projects preferred
  • Familiarity with P6, SPI, CPI, and network audits
  • Preferred certifications: OSHA-30, BICSI TECH/OSP/RCDD

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Project Manager and project team execution
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and documentation
  • Review drawings, track updates, and maintain as-builts
  • Validate field conditions and identify design issues
  • Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, and clients
  • Monitor project progress, risks, and reporting
  • Support QA/QC and review test results
  • Ensure materials, schedules, and deliverables stay on track
  • Lead project closeout documentation

  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of construction processes and scheduling
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and solutions-driven
  • Comfortable using tools like Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, and similar platforms
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to mentor others
