Occupational Therapist - Travel Contract

Make a meaningful difference as a travel OT. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to help patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities regain or improve daily skills in an acute hospital setting while exploring Santa Fe, NM.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current New Mexico licensure for Occupational Therapy required prior to start.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Acute care hospital experience preferred. One year of Occupational Therapy experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in assessment/evaluation, clinical decision-making, documentation, and time management.
  • Ability to perform physical job demands including prolonged standing/walking, patient transfers, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Assignment Details

  • Facility type: Hospital.
  • Shift: Days.
  • Shift hours: 08:00 - 18:00.
  • Setting: Acute care, Rehabilitation Services department.
  • Required credentials: New Mexico state OT license and BLS (AHA).
  • Primary responsibilities: Assess and treat activities of daily living, develop and implement plans of care, administer OT modalities, and collaborate with interdisciplinary team.

Position Summary

Assesses and treats the impact of illness, injury, developmental, or psychological impairments on performance of activities of daily living. Assists patients to regain, develop, and learn skills to achieve optimal independence, reduce joint strain, prevent further joint damage, and conserve energy. Develops, implements, and monitors plans of care. Performs and directs administration of occupational therapy modalities and collaborates with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team. Reports to Director/Manager, Rehabilitation Services.

Environment and Physical Requirements

Works in a clean, well-lighted, ventilated, smoke-free environment. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, combative patients, and hazardous chemicals. Requires good physical condition, prolonged standing and walking, patient lifting and transfers, and occasional lifting of supplies or equipment up to 50 lbs.
