Job Description
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising all warehouse activities during the shift. Under the direction of the Warehouse Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising the receiving, warehousing and shipping of products consistent with the Company Service and Cost Objectives and Compliance with the Food Safety and Quality Management Standards. Adhering to set schedules per shift managing hours not to exceed into overtime (OT) unless preauthorized by management. Overseeing the accuracy of loading/unloading products to the receiving list or outbound list. Accuracy of product name to the label name. Accuracy of product box count picking list.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Supervise, work and coordinate Forklift unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product and the picking and staging of outbound shipments in accordance with the highest levels of productivity. Verify inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers ensuring that all products are properly counted. Perform any other duties assigned by the WH Manager.
- Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all forklift equipment.
- Participate in establishing work schedules. Ensure that the schedules are correctly implemented and that the jobs are assigned efficiently and completed properly. That employees adhere to the scheduled shift timeframe.
- Maintain product location system and ensure the optimal utilization of spaces. Update the location system whenever product is transferred from one location to another location.
- Identify and recover any damaged product accurately with Company Policy.
For example, all exposed products must be rejected. Report on all shortages and overages to the WH Manager.
- Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area. Assign specific areas to employees for daily housekeeping clean up. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conducts operations in a manner to promote safety.
- Direct the operations of the warehouse work team to achieve pre-determined objectives. Develop and maintain a productive work team, assist in the implementation of programs for hiring, training and employee development. Match the skill and background of an employee to the work required. Apply sound communication with motivational techniques, create programs to supervise,
- counsel and discipline insubordination. Complete all necessary records and reports timely and accurately. As a supervisor ensures hourly employees maintain the allowed time per shift only working overtime when preapproved by management.
- Assure the integrity of the inventory and assist in conducting physical inventories. Specify to each employee that product removal must be by the proper lot number and if deviation exists, it should be with your consent. Accurately records the paperwork so the final document agrees to lot number shipped.
- Apply and enforce all company policies, such as HR, Safety policies, training, and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum high school education or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ warehouse experience.
- Able to receive and delegate orders.
- Must be people orientated.
- Good understanding of modern warehousing.
- Complete understanding of accurate inventory keeping.
- Complete required tasks efficiently within a 2-hour load/unload window.
- Good reading, writing and oral skills.
- Forklift driver certification is preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must have use of all extremities.
- Must be able to reach above shoulders.
- Must be able to see.
- Must be able to identify colors.
- Must be able to hear.
- Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs. +/-.
- Must be able to bend and kneel repeatedly.
- Must be able to climb stairs.
- Must work in temperatures ranging from -10 degrees normal daily temperatures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Cold and damp with temperatures ranging from -10 Fahrenheit to normal daily temperatures.
- Constant noise.
- Working with and/or around machines with moving parts and objects.
- Wear gloves as required.
- Machine vibration.
- Working closely with others.
- Longer and irregular work hours.
