Dental Assistant Job Description (Indiana)

Position Title: Dental Assistant
Location: Broadway Dental Care, Merrillville, IN
Employment Type: [Full-time / Part-time]

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Dental Assistant to join our modern, technology-driven dental practice. The ideal candidate will have experience with digital dentistry, including digital X-rays, CEREC systems, and intraoral scanning, and will help deliver high-quality care in an efficient and comfortable environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the dentist during a variety of procedures, including restorative and crown same-day treatments
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatories
  • Take and process digital X-rays
  • Assist with and operate CEREC same-day crown technology
  • Perform and support digital intraoral scanning
  • Prepare patients for treatment and ensure comfort throughout procedures
  • Take and update patient medical histories and charting
  • Provide post-operative instructions
  • Maintain accurate patient records using dental software
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards
  • Manage inventory and order supplies as needed
Requirements (Indiana-Specific)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Dental assisting experience preferred
  • Radiography certification required in Indiana
  • Knowledge or experience with digital X-ray systems, CEREC, and intraoral scanners strongly preferred
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a digital or paperless dental office
  • Familiarity with dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft)
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude and strong patient care focus
Work Environment
  • Modern, fully digital dental office

  • Requires standing for extended periods and use of PPE
