The Payroll Team Manager is responsible for supporting and coordinating payroll operations with a focus on system accuracy, data integrity, and compliance. This role plays a key part in ensuring payroll is processed efficiently and accurately using Workday, while also contributing to payroll audits, reporting, and system improvements. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee accurate and timely processing of biweekly payroll using the Workday system.
- Review and validate timekeeping records, earnings, deductions, and other payroll inputs.
- Maintain and troubleshoot payroll processes and configurations within Workday.
- Conduct regular audits and reconciliations to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Support payroll tax filings and ensure accurate withholding and reporting in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Assist with payroll-related projects, including system enhancements, testing, and process improvements.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT to ensure smooth payroll operations and data consistency across systems.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide timely, professional support.
- Prepare payroll reports and assist with year-end activities such as W-2 processing.
- Maintain organized and confidential payroll records in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related fieldor equivalent work experience.
- 7+ years of experience in payroll processing, including system-based payroll functions.
- Hands-on experience with Workday HRIS/payroll system required.
- Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations, compliance standards, and payroll best practices.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and payroll reporting tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification is a plus.
