The Certified Phlebotomy Technician will be responsible for the collection of blood and other specimens for testing in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. This role requires excellent patient interaction, attention to detail, and adherence to established protocols. The Certified Phlebotomy Technician will work closely with healthcare teams to ensure the timely processing of specimens and accurate documentation.
How YOU can Make an Impact:
Perform venipuncture and capillary collection procedures accurately and efficiently.
Ensure proper patient identification, specimen labeling, and collection techniques to maintain specimen integrity.
Explain collection procedures to patients and answer any questions to minimize anxiety.
Maintain clean and organized work areas in compliance with infection control protocols.
Adhere to safety guidelines for handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
Communicate any challenges or complications during specimen collection to the appropriate medical staff.
Maintain accurate patient records and document all procedures in accordance with HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines.
Monitor inventory levels of supplies, including needles, vacutainers, gloves, and other required equipment.
Assist in the preparation and shipment of specimens to the laboratory as needed.
Participate in continuous education and training to remain updated on best practices and safety protocols.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What we Ask of YOU:
A current, valid state(s) licensure, certificate and/or credentials documenting ability to practice in applicable role (i.e. CPT, CMA, LPN, RN, LMHP, etc.).
1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a correctional healthcare or similar environment.
Experience in roles that involve direct patient care or administrative support in a regulated environment is preferred.
Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to the correctional setting is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, adhere to protocols, and deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced, structured environment.
Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).
