Job Summary and QualificationsAdministers all therapy modalities to all age groups per physicians orders.
Is responsible for the initiation, operation, monitoring and weaning of patients with mechanical ventilators.
Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis
Responds to all code blue situations for assigned areas.
Assists in the transport of ventilator and critically ill patients.
Participates in staffing needs.
Checks all physician orders prior to therapy and gives thorough, accurate report to oncoming shift.
Enters all patient contacts into Meditech.
Participates in all areas of departmental duties, including assistance in new employee orientation and continuing education.
Performs regular equipment rounds.
Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and/or significant others. Uses appropriate Patient Education documentation modality.
Other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:EXPERIENCE
Preferred: One year adult critical care experience. Strong clinical skills in mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis and oximetry.
EDUCATION
Required: Graduate of accredited program of Respiratory Therapy or equivalent
CERTIFICATION
Required: Current Virginia Respiratory Therapy license.
Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Therapy.
BLS within 90 days of employment, ACLS within 180 days of employment
Preferred: PALS, NRP, CPFT
Hours: Part time, day shift
