Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities
The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key role in the development of custom-engineered systems, with responsibilities including:
• Designing mechanical systems and components for HVAC equipment and fluid transfer systems, often integrated onto mobile platforms and trailers
• Creating detailed 3D models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks
• Developing and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs), design documentation, and engineering change records
• Supporting proto@type builds, testing, and validation to ensure system performance and reliability
• Collaborating closely with manufacturing, R&D, and field service teams to resolve design and production challenges
• Identifying opportunities for cost reduction, performance improvement, and product standardization (VAVE)
• Developing and executing design verification plans, procedures, and reports
Mechanical Design Engineer Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration, pumps, or piping systems
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with mobile equipment, trailer-mounted systems, or value engineering is a plus
