MaineHealth Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced Substance Use Treatment Clinic Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team delivering compassionate, evidencebased care to individuals and families affected by substance use disorders. This is a leadership opportunity for someone who believes treatment works, people deserve dignity, and teams thrive with strong support. In this role, you will help shape access to care, strengthen community partnerships, and support a sustainable, recoveryoriented treatment model within one of Maine’s most respected health systems.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Provide operational and clinical leadership for a substance use treatment clinic or program
  • Lead, coach, and support a multidisciplinary team (clinical, administrative, and support staff)
  • Oversee daily operations, staffing, workflows, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with medical directors, behavioral health leaders, and community partners
  • Support traumainformed, recoveryfocused, and personcentered care
  • Monitor performance metrics, access to care, and patient experience
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, licensing, and accreditation standards
  • Contribute to program development and service expansion aligned with community needs

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Leadership experience in substance use treatment, behavioral health, or related healthcare settings
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through complexity and change
  • Strong understanding of evidencebased SUD treatment models (including MAT, counseling, and recovery supports)
  • Commitment to health equity, harm reduction, and nonstigmatizing care
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problemsolving skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Social Work or Clinical Counseling from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Ability to teach basic social work/clinical counseling principles and applications.
  • License/Certifications: Maine State licensure to practice as a LCSW,or LCPC is required. Maine State licensure to practice as a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) strongly preferred. Maine State licensure to practice as a LADC and CADC as needed. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation if applicable.
  • Experience: 2+ years of related work experience in a substance abuse , health or mental health setting preferred; depending on client population to be serviced, desired work experience may vary. Prior experience with clinical methods and techniques used in individual, family and group therapy as related to substance use/co-occurring disorders is required.
  • Knowledge of social work/ counseling theories, therapies and techniques, as used in individual, family and group treatment, as well as principles of social welfare are required.
