Position Summary

The Northridge Local School District is seeking a qualified and dedicated Band and Instrumental Music Teacher to provide instruction for students in grades 612 at Northridge Middle School and Northridge High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, development, and direction of the district's instrumental music program, as well as instruction in general music courses as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in instrumental and general music
• Direct and oversee all aspects of the band program, including:
  • Marching Band
  • Concert Bands (middle and high school)
  • Jazz Band and/or other ensembles
• Prepare students for concerts, adjudicated events, and community performances
• Organize and supervise rehearsals, sectionals, and performances beyond the school day, including summer marching band activities
• Coordinate participation in festivals, competitions, and public performances
• Maintain inventory, equipment, uniforms, and music library
• Collaborate with building administration and staff to support student achievement and program goals
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and community stakeholders
• Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment
• Support student involvement and leadership within the music program
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Music Education (required)
• Valid Ohio teaching license in Music (or ability to obtain)
• Demonstrated knowledge of instrumental music pedagogy and conducting techniques
• Ability to instruct students at varying levels of musical ability
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Prior experience directing marching band and jazz band is preferred
  
  

Working Conditions

• Extended hours required for rehearsals, performances, and events
• Evening and weekend responsibilities, including concerts, competitions, and community functions
• Summer responsibilities associated with marching band
