Traveling Medical Assistant – Podiatry

Position Title: Podiatry Assistant
Reports To: Supervising Podiatrist 
Location: Extensive Travel – Portable Clinics in Long-Term Care Facilities

Position Overview

This position requires 100% travel, with overnight stays 2–4 nights per week depending on the schedule. Travel is an essential part of the role.

The Podiatry Assistant provides patient support services during podiatry visits in long-term care settings. Responsibilities include safely transporting residents, assisting with clinical documentation, and supporting the podiatrist to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care. This role operates under the supervision of the podiatrist and in accordance with all facility and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Support & Transport

• Safely transport residents to and from the podiatry clinic area within the facility

• Provide mobility assistance while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity

• Assist with patient preparation for podiatric exams and procedures

Clinical Assistance

• Assist with documentation in patient charts (electronic or paper)

• Record vital signs, health history, and podiatry-specific notes as directed

• Ensure records are accurate, complete, and compliant with HIPAA standards

• Prepare treatment areas and maintain a clean, organized clinical workspace

Team Support

• Support the podiatrist and nursing staff during patient visits as needed

• Coordinate with facility staff to ensure efficient scheduling and patient flow

• Monitor supply inventory and report equipment or restocking needs

Qualifications

• Prior experience in long-term care preferred

• Ability to safely assist and transport patients with mobility limitations

• Basic computer skills; EMR/EHR experience preferred

• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills

• Commitment to patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

• Ability to push wheelchairs and assist with patient transfers

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed
