We're currently seeking a highly motivated Resident Engineer located in Baltimore, MD .
Position Overview:
The Resident Engineer will serve as the on site representative responsible for overseeing daily construction activities for terminal development and related infrastructure projects at Baltimore Washington International Airport. This role supports the Maryland Aviation Administration by ensuring construction work is performed in accordance with contract documents, design specifications, safety requirements, and airport operational constraints.
The Resident Engineer will coordinate closely with the Project Manager, construction contractors, design consultants, inspectors, and airport stakeholders to support successful project delivery while maintaining safe and uninterrupted airport operations.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or a related technical field.
Preferred Certifications:
- Maryland Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
or
- Registered Architect (AIA)
or
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
or
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Professional registration in the State of Maryland is desirable but not required.
Required Qualifications:
In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience serving as a Resident Engineer or Resident Architect on terminal development projects at medium to large commercial airports or major transportation facilities.
- Experience working within active airport environments where coordination with airport operations, airlines, and regulatory agencies is required.

Responsibilities:
- Provide on site leadership and oversight of construction activities related to terminal development and supporting infrastructure projects.
- Act as the primary field representative supporting the Project Manager and Maryland Aviation Administration during construction.
- Monitor daily construction operations to ensure compliance with design documents, technical specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Coordinate closely with contractors, construction inspectors, and design consultants to ensure work progresses in accordance with approved plans and schedules.
- Review contractor work plans, submittals, and requests for information to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Support contract administration activities including documentation review, field reports, meeting coordination, and issue resolution.
- Oversee inspection staff and ensure that construction quality control and quality assurance procedures are implemented and maintained.
- Identify and resolve construction issues, conflicts, or schedule impacts in coordination with the Project Manager and airport stakeholders.
- Coordinate construction activities with airport operations to maintain safety, security, and operational continuity of terminal facilities.
- Participate in construction meetings, progress reviews, and coordination sessions with contractors, consultants, and airport representatives.
- Track construction progress and support project schedule monitoring to ensure milestones and completion targets are met.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, airport safety standards, and applicable construction codes.
- Maintain accurate project records including daily reports, inspection documentation, and field correspondence.
- Support the Project Manager in evaluating contractor performance, reviewing change orders, and managing construction risks.
Salary:
42.00/hr
Bonus Pay:
A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management's discretion.
