Position Summary

The Alivia Home Health Speech Therapist (also known as Speech Language Pathologist) evaluates and treats speech and language disorders in participants, with a focus on the geriatric population. This role includes conducting diagnostic assessments, developing therapy plans, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to implement appropriate interventions. Responsibilities also include counseling, education, and supporting communication-related functional improvements.

Essential Functions
  • Provide speech therapy services in accordance with individualized care plans
  • Conduct evaluations using diagnostic tools to assess speech and language functions
  • Develop, implement, and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
  • Monitor, record, and report participant progress
  • Participate in organizational committees that support interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant records and interactions
  • Promote safe practices and environments for participants with communication impairments
  • Engage in continuous professional development
  • Only act within the scope of his or her authority to practice
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications Knowledge and Critical Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of speech therapy principles and rehabilitative techniques
  • Familiarity with geriatric-specific conditions and best practices
  • Ability to identify and mitigate speech-related safety risks
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving, and cognitive assessment skills
  • Effective collaboration in interdisciplinary healthcare settings
  • Passion for working with older adult populations
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Speech Therapist, preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience with frail or elderly populations, preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with dementia, preferred
License / Certification
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA, preferred
  • Active state license in Speech Therapy (e.g., Florida)
  • CPR with First Aid or BLS certification
  • Valid Florida driverโ€™s license and auto insurance
Education
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent
Other Requirements
  • Medical clearance for communicable diseases
  • Up-to-date immunizations before participant contact
