About Foundation Housing

Foundation Housing develops, designs, renovates, and operates residential properties with a long-term ownership mindset.

We do not flip projects — we build, operate, and continuously improve the communities ourselves.

We focus on student housing and are committed to elevating the daily living experience through disciplined design and construction execution.

We are vertically integrated across development, construction, and property management under one roof. We use technology to plan, schedule, document, and refine our builds. We track performance. We analyze maintenance data. We build systems, not just projects.

Our construction division is expanding rapidly as we scale from 300 beds to 3,000 beds over the next 3–5 years.

This is not a short-term crew build. This is the foundation of a scalable, disciplined, technology-enabled construction operation.

Those who help build this correctly — with standards, leadership, and output — will have significant opportunity for advancement, responsibility, and financial upside as we grow.

Why This Opportunity Is Different

Most construction companies:

  • Run job to job without long-term structure
  • Accept chaos and inconsistency
  • Tolerate low standards
  • Treat turnover as normal

We are building something different.

We are building:

  • A disciplined, reliable crew
  • Clear standards and expectations
  • Strong leadership on site
  • Technology-supported planning and scheduling
  • Long-term opportunity — not just the next job

As we scale from 300 to 3,000 beds, early team members who perform will have first access to leadership roles, increased compensation, and expanded responsibility.

This is not a casual labor role. It is an opportunity to join early, perform at a high level, and grow with a company that is scaling quickly.

Position Summary

Foundation Housing is hiring Skilled Carpenters to support active renovation projects in Troy and Syracuse.

This role requires professional-level execution.

You should be capable of working independently and producing clean, high-quality results without daily instruction.

You should be capable of:

  • Framing (layout, structural modifications, plan reading)
  • Professional drywall hanging and finishing
  • Flooring installation (LVP, hardwood, laminate; tile preferred)
  • Trim and finish carpentry
  • Cabinet installation and adjustments
  • Door and window installation
  • Fixture installation
  • Punch list completion with attention to detail
  • Minor cross-trade troubleshooting

You should:

  • Maintain production pace
  • Protect craftsmanship standards
  • Keep organized job sites
  • Be comfortable using technology for documentation

We are hiring for standards, not just headcount.

Employment Structure

All trades roles follow a defined structure:

First 30 days:

  • 1099 contractor trial period

After successful completion:

  • Conversion to W-2 employee
  • 5 sick days awarded upon conversion
  • Bi-monthly payroll schedule

The trial period is performance-based and evaluates reliability, output, professionalism, and alignment with standards.

Performance Structure

30-Day Intensive Trial

This is a real evaluation window.

During this time we evaluate:

  • Reliability (attendance and punctuality)
  • Work quality
  • Productivity and pace
  • Tool readiness
  • Ability to follow direction
  • Attitude and professionalism

No-call/no-show results in immediate termination. Repeated lateness or low effort will result in dismissal.

90-Day Probation

Following the 30-day period, employees remain under a 90-Day probationary window. Performance consistency is required.

Compensation Structure

  • $24.00–$48.00 per hour
  • Trades roles are hourly, non-exempt
  • Standard overtime is paid at 1.5x hourly rate
  • Approved high-intensity or deadline periods may include 2x–3x overtime pay when necessary to meet project timelines
  • After successful completion of the 30-day performance period, team members will be paid 2x their hourly rate for the following 5 consecutive workdays (Days 31–36)
  • Raises are evaluated every 3–6 months based on performance and contribution

Compensation specifics are outlined in your offer letter.

Compensation is based on:

  • Productivity
  • Reliability
  • Leadership contribution
  • Company growth

We reward performance — not tenure.

Standards of Conduct

Every team member represents Foundation Housing on job sites that directly impact the student experience.

We expect:

  • Consistent punctuality
  • Reliable transportation
  • Professional-grade tools
  • Safe work practices
  • Clean, organized job sites
  • Respectful communication
  • Ownership of mistakes

We do not tolerate:

  • Chronic lateness
  • Disrespect
  • Careless workmanship
  • Substance-related impairment
  • Unsafe practices

Background checks are conducted.

Tools & Preparedness

Owning your own tools signals professionalism.

Candidates without basic trade tools will not be prioritized.

The company invests in equipment and systems that improve efficiency, consistency, and speed.

If there is a smarter way to build, we want to know about it.

Growth Path

High performers may move into:

  • Lead Carpenter roles
  • Site Supervisor positions
  • Multi-site oversight
  • Long-term construction leadership

As we scale, leadership opportunities will expand.
