Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technician

Responsibilities:

• Conduct laboratory tests accurately and efficiently in accordance with established procedures and laboratory protocols.
• Perform and document routine maintenance, calibration, and quality control checks on laboratory instruments and testing reagents.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues related to instruments, reagents, supplies, or test results and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
• Accurately record and document all test results in a clear and complete format, utilizing laboratory information systems to generate and report results.
• Promptly communicate critical or abnormal ("panic") results to appropriate clients or medical personnel according to established procedures.
• Respond to client inquiries and resolve concerns in a professional and timely manner while following departmental policies.
• Assist with training and onboarding of new laboratory staff and students in relevant technical procedures and best practices.
• Adhere to all corporate integrity, compliance, and safety policies established by the organization.
• Support overall laboratory operations by performing additional duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field (MLT, MLS, or CLS).
• Certification through ASCP or AMT, or eligibility to obtain certification, required.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow laboratory procedures accurately.
• Ability to maintain visual accuracy and manual dexterity for extended computer and laboratory work.
• Capable of performing precise data entry and analysis in a potentially fast-paced or noisy laboratory environment.
• Ability to read small print on labels, specimen containers, and equipment displays.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds for distances up to 50 yards.
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds from the floor to approximately five feet in height.
• Manual dexterity required to handle various specimen types and operate laboratory pipetting and testing equipment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and walk short distances frequently throughout the workday.
• Exposure to biohazardous materials and hazardous chemicals may occur during normal laboratory operations.
• Must follow all laboratory safety, ergonomic, and health guidelines established by the company.
• Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in laboratory or biohazard areas.
• Must complete all required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner
