The GSC R&D Colorants group is seeking a Senior Chemist to lead projects and/or project teams as a member of the Global Colorant R&D Industrial product development team at South Holland. This position is accountable for contributing to and/or leading the development and reformulation of colorant dispersion and/or paint products.This position is accountable for providing timely and accurate solutions to multiple problems of moderate to difficult complexity and is required to be or develop toward an expert status in at least one broad or specialized area.

Responsibilities Include:

Appropriate selection of raw materials, dispersion making and testing, data analysis and application of dispersion/paint formulation knowledge
Paint and/or colorant dispersion product development and commercialization
Accurate documentation and presentation of lab results and technical information.
Communicates with manager, marketing, manufacturing, vendors and various support groups to ensure the successful commercialization of products; Utilizes internal networks.
Establishes timelines and resources needed with minimal changes and input from managers with the ability to alter project scope or propose changes based on feedback.
Acts as a resource to other employees technically and in project management.
Demonstrates knowledge of various technologies.
Influences supervisor to support an idea/plan and considers the potential impact of the business; Provides input on department projects.
Provides team support by encouraging collaboration and providing suggestions/resources to overcome obstacles.
Initiates and leads resolutions to solve problems, improve processes, develop methods and investigate and implement plans.
Will interpret intellectual property of others and to work with the SW Legal team to generate intellectual Property for SW.

BASIC QUALIFICATION:
Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
Must be at least 18 years of age

FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
Must have a bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) field

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Minimum of 5 years of coating or related industry product development experience
Strong project management experience
Knowledge of industrial chemistry raw material technology

Preferred:
7 or more years of paint or coatings formulation or related industry
Minimum of 1 year color formulation or color matching experience preferred
Ability to interact effectively with various levels of technical experience
Project leadership/management experience
Basic knowledge of statistics and data analysis with the ability to apply to product design and development
Experience in using Stage Gate process(es) and/or DFSS tools in projects

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)

Preferred:
Basic to intermediate understanding of DOE, statistical analysis, DFSS methodology
Experience with Stage-Gate process

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 10%
