As an Additive Manufacturing Engineer, You Will:
- Serve as a core member of the engineering team, supporting the design, development, and validation of additive manufacturing processes from concept through production.
- Evaluate potential additive manufacturing components by assessing material selection, machine capability, manufacturability, design optimization, and overall business case viability.
- Develop optimized part designs and build files to ensure high-quality output, reduced cycle times, and repeatable production performance.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to improve existing part designs and maximize the advantages of additive manufacturing technology for new product development.
- Partner with Materials Engineers to analyze mechanical properties, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish, establishing optimal print parameters, heat treatments, and design allowables for both current and emerging alloys.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, effectively prioritizing shifting demands while solving complex technical challenges with innovative, data-driven solutions.
- Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and project materials to support internal initiatives and external communications.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and ISO 9001-related quality initiatives, utilizing Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC) where appropriate to enhance process control and outcomes.
- Support business development through technical discussions with customers, assisting sales efforts with engineering insight and feasibility analysis.
- Design and detail molds, tooling, fixtures, and models, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of powder bed metal additive manufacturing systems, including material specifications and machine parameters.
- Oversee and support KPIs, documented procedures, and required training compliance, ensuring adherence to company policies and operational standards.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed while maintaining consistent attendance, professionalism, and workplace organization within additive manufacturing areas.
Skills/Requirements:
- 2-5+ years' experience with additive machines (powder bed or binder jetting a plus), including parameter development and process control
- 2+ years of experience in Siemens NX, or similar 3D CAD software is required
- Experience with additive simulation software and topology optimization software
Education:
- BS Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Material Science or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university
