Job Description

Keswick School, a therapeutic special education boarding school outside of Charlottesville, Virginia, is seeking applicants for an immediate full-time speech-language pathologist (SLP) position in a dynamic, inter-professional setting with adolescent and teen boys, ages 9-17, who have learning, developmental, and social-emotional challenges. The SLP would join a strong related services team comprised of an occupational therapist and art therapist. The related services team works closely within the broader clinical team, comprised of a psychiatrist, a clinical child psychologist, a Ph.D. family and marriage therapist, and two licensed clinical social workers.

Our speech and language program teaches students the skills to be more effective and appropriate communicators, as well as addresses executive functioning and social skill deficits. Speech and language therapy is a core component of the immersive treatment program. Through multiple modalities and settings, students learn how and why specific social language guidelines and executive functioning skills can improve interpersonal relationships and build independence across all aspects of life. Keswick School offers a variety of service delivery models including individual, integrated, group, and mealtime conversation skills. SLPs are responsible for differentially diagnosing and evaluating students referred for evaluation. They are responsible for supporting the development of Individualized Service Plan/Education Programs and providing therapy to meet individual needs. They are also responsible for submitting quarterly progress reports and providing consultation to staff directly involved in student care and treatment.

Qualified applicants should possess, at a minimum, a master’s degree in speech pathology from an accredited institution. Applicants should also possess a current license in speech and language pathology issued by the Virginia Board of Examiners for Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology or meet the requirements to apply for a Virginia license under the reciprocity standards of the Virginia licensing board.

Benefits of working at Keswick School include:

  • Hands-on experience working with students who have a wide range of social, emotional and developmental needs
  • Opportunities to consult with experienced professionals across several disciplines on a daily basis
  • Being a part of a nationally and internationally recognized program
  • Taking part in innovative and research-based behavioral interventions
  • Weekly professional development meetings
  • Support in continuing education
  • Medical, dental, life, vision, accident and liability insurance
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) Bank and 5 weeks of paid holiday time
  • 401k with 4% matching and tuition assistance
  • Meals provided while on campus
  • Relocation Funds
