Job Description
Under general supervision, analyzes and validates system requirements and existing business processes and information systems to ensure desirability, practicality, and resource availability and capability. Designs, develops and implements basic to moderately complex programs and/or modifications of existing applications. Devises or modifies procedures to solve basic problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation of moderately complex applications according to organization standards and end-user requirements. Assists in the determination, diagnosis, isolation and resolution of applications resource and utilization problems and errors. Develops fault diagnosis, isolation and resolution techniques that ensure optimal performance is constantly maintained.
Required Qualifications
- A college degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2-4 years of experience in Information Technology, preferably with Applications Development)
- Knowledge of program logic, analysis, specification design, data formatting
- Work experience in developing technical and user documentation.
- Good communication skills with customers and team members
- Knowledge and experience with healthcare information systems and business practices
- Ability to solve problems and think logically to address challenges
- Ability to work successfully within a team
- Must be able to keep abreast of technological trends as well as healthcare technology trends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience interacting with customers to gather and understand their business and technical requirements
- Ability to prioritize projects and react to critical deadlines
- Experience in developing technical and user documentation.
- Logical thought process with ability to analyze business and clinical workflows, and develop them into translations that will allow disparate systems to communicate
- 1-3 years relevant experience desired in reading and manipulating HL7
- Experience with Intersystems Ensemble interface engine Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system knowledge desired
- Experience with Epic Bridges; Epic Bridges certification desired
- Familiarity with technologies such as XML, X12, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, SFTP, Bash shell, Perl, Cache Object Script
- Familiarity with other interface engine technologies such as Mirth, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody
- Experience in developing scripts that support the transformation of data to and from various messaging definitions using Perl and the Unix command line
- Experience with data mapping, validation and normalization techniques desired
- Familiarity with network diagnostics and/or knowledge of networking protocols
