Position SummaryThe Commercial Journeyman Plumber is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems in commercial construction and service environments. This role performs skilled plumbing work in accordance with applicable codes and project specifications while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency. The Journeyman Plumber works independently or as part of a crew and supports project timelines through effective execution of assigned tasks.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, assemble, and repair commercial plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, vent, and gas piping
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
Lay out plumbing systems and install piping, fixtures, and equipment
Perform system testing, inspections, and troubleshooting
Ensure all installations comply with local, state, and national plumbing codes
Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to meet job schedules
Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good working condition
Identify and report safety hazards or quality concerns
Complete service documentation and daily work reports
Provide guidance and support to apprentices as needed
Valid Journeyman Plumber license (as required by state)
3+ years of commercial plumbing experience
Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems and applicable codes
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Proficiency in installing and repairing various piping systems (PVC, copper, cast iron, steel, etc.)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various job site conditions
Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
OSHA certification preferred
