Ameresco is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Building Automation Estimator to join our team in Ohio. As a Building Automation Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of DDC control system installations for commercial building projects. Your expertise in controls engineering, cost estimation, and project documentation will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to understand project requirements and scope.

  • Collaborate with the sales team and project managers to evaluate project opportunities and assess customer needs.

  • Perform take-offs from project drawings and specifications to quantify materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractor requirements.

  • Analyze project specifications and conduct research to determine appropriate DDC control system components and equipment.

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for DDC control system installations, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

  • Utilize estimation software and tools to develop accurate and comprehensive project proposals, including scope of work, equipment lists, engineering hours, and cost breakdowns.

  • Seek competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors and evaluate quotes to determine the most cost-effective solutions.

  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure accurate and up-to-date pricing information for control system components and equipment.

  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate bid proposals to clients, ensuring compliance with project specifications and contract requirements.

  • Review and evaluate project changes, including scope changes and change orders, and update cost estimates accordingly.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide technical support and expertise during the project estimation phase.

  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure smooth handover of estimated projects, providing necessary documentation and clarifications.

  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including drawings, specifications, proposals, change orders, and as-built records.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to DDC controls and cost estimation methods.

  • Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to review and analyze project outcomes, identifying areas for improvement in future estimations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in DDC controls engineering or estimation, preferably in the construction industry.

  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites as required

  • Strong knowledge of building automation systems, DDC controls, and related components and equipment.

Additional Qualications:

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction blueprints, control drawings, and specifications.

  • Demonstrated experience in cost estimation, including labor, material, and equipment costs for DDC control system installations.

  • Experience using estimation software and tools to develop accurate project proposals and cost estimates.

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to perform accurate take-offs and calculations.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple estimates concurrently.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

  • Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) software and estimation software.

  • A proactive and self-motivated mindset, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

The anticipated salary range for this role is $70,000.02$101,500 per year (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.

Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.
