Lakeview Village is a continuing care retirement community.  We have an opening for a Physical Therapist to work Full Time.

Lakeview's Physical Therapist performs evaluations and develops effective resident treatment plans to restore, maintain, and prevent decline of resident function, by planning and administering medically prescribed physical therapy in accordance with all applicable federal and state regulations and professional and accreditation standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Consults the physician, the resident and the resident’s family to establish resident goals and develop an physical therapy treatment plan.
  • Assesses and interprets evaluations and test results, administers physical therapy treatments and directs treatments given by aides and assistants.
  • Assists residents in achieving treatment goals; evaluates effects of physical therapy treatment by accurately observing and tracking a resident’s progress, modifying medical equipment and adaptive equipment or supplies for residents to facilitate independence.
  • Coordinates with the interdisciplinary team to complete discharge planning, ensuring that each resident, caregiver, or family member is informed of the resident-centered maintenance program upon discharge. Recommends outpatient or Home Health follow-up programs as needed.
  • Ensures that all resident care services are accurately documented according to established procedure.
  • Protects residents and associates by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Ensures continuous quality improvement in rehabilitative services as demonstrated by resident outcomes data.
  • Secures durable medical and adaptive equipment to facilitate resident independence. Ensures that any equipment malfunctions are reported to the manufacturer in a timely manner, and that all equipment is clean, and in good working order.
  • Maintains professional competency by attending seminars, reading professional journals, and networking with peers. May be asked to use this information to conduct an in-service seminar for residents or staff.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an American Physical Therapy Association accredited school of Physical Therapy, and licensed to practice in the State of Kansas.
  • Outpatient Therapy experience preferred 
  • Vestibular Certification preferred 
  • Demonstrates good communications skills, including but not limited to effective reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills, with a fluent understanding of English. 
  • Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly.
  • Able to work in a team setting with residents, relatives, staff, and others.

Stoops by bending spine at the waist downward and forward; kneeling on the knee to come to a rest; climbs stairs and ramps, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms; and crouching downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Reaches hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction; pushes forward, downward or outward; and lifts objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to position. Walks to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Fingers with whole hand or arm such as picking, pinching or typing; grasp by applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm and feel attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. Talks to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly, and/or quickly; and hears sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and has the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • May be asked to assist in transferring residents weighing up to 250 lbs.
