What You’ll Do

  • Coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates educational programming for all staff across the perioperative/periprocedural continuum. Coordinates and oversees the development of orientation, department-based education, continuing education, and competency development programs.
  • Serves as faculty in orientation, continuing education, and department-based education. Utilizes evidence-based information (i.e. AORN guidelines, ASPAN standards, etc.) and professional standards of practice to develop education curriculum programs and content. Collaborates with department leadership in identifying knowledge, skill, or practice gaps.
  • Collaborates with department leadership in assisting staff transition into the work setting. Coordinates and facilitates onboarding and job preparation experiences for employees and external learners within the organization. Supervises learners and provides ongoing feedback to department leadership regarding performance concerns in orientation.
  • Collaborates with department leadership in conducting annual and periodic learning needs assessment to ensure that education curriculum meets unit and organizational needs. Supports nursing staff in achieving professional development and opportunities for advancement.
  • Personalizes training and education to meet the needs of learners when necessary. Adheres to and facilitates staff adherence to regulatory standards. Assures educational programs meet regulatory and specialty requirements. Serves as a nurse planner for continuing education programming.
  • Completes required documentation of educational programs offered per organizational requirements. Provides educational expertise on department and organizational-wide committees. Cultivates a safe and supportive environment for learners in the classroom setting.

What You Bring:

  • Masters degree required in Nursing, Adult Education or other appropriate field.

    Current, unrestricted Ohio RN license. Minimum of five (5) years nursing experience required in perioperative and/or post-anesthesia care CNOR certification is preferred; CPAN or CAPA certificates or within one (1) year after hire.

  • Licensed as an RN in the state of Ohio. Must maintain continuous certification in American Heart Association’s BLS; attains American Heart Association ACLS and American Heart Association PALS provider cards within six (6) months of employment. Must obtain instructor certification in at least one of the three disciplines (BLS, ACLS, and PALS) within six (6) months of employment and maintain continuous certification with instructor certifications in at least one of the three disciplines thereafter.
