Full Time Veterinary Assistant

About Us

Urgent Animal Care of Arlington is a growing, AAHA-accredited urgent care hospital that opened in June 2023. We provide call-ahead and walk-in services for non-life-threatening urgent cases in a collaborative, team-focused environment.

We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our close-knit and supportive team.

Hospital Details

249 N Glebe Rd, Arlington, VA 22203

Hours:

  • Monday-Friday: 10 AM - 8 PM
  • Saturday-Sunday: 8 AM - 6 PM

Medical Team: 2 doctors + relief doctors

Appointment Length: 20-30 minutes

Types of Cases We See

We treat non-life-threatening urgent cases, including:

  • Abscesses
  • Coughing or sneezing
  • Skin issues (itching, rashes, hotspots)
  • Minor cuts and wounds
  • Poison or toxin ingestion*
  • Foreign body ingestion*
  • Urinary issues*
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Bite wounds
  • Ear infections
  • Eye discharge & squinting
  • Fleas or worms
  • Allergic reactions
  • Anal gland issues
  • Hives or facial swelling
  • Paw or nail issues
  • Fever
  • End-of-life care & euthanasia

(*Severe cases may be transferred to an emergency hospital.)

Your Impact as an Urgent Care Veterinary Assistant

  • Be a Critical Support in Urgent Situations: You'll be an essential part of the medical team, directly assisting veterinarians and technicians with hands-on patient care in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure a Seamless Workflow During a Crisis: Your ability to anticipate needs and maintain composure will be key to keeping the clinic running efficiently, even during a medical emergency.
  • Provide a Calming Presence for Clients: You'll be a reassuring point of contact for worried pet owners, assisting with check-ins, payments, and communications with empathy and professionalism.
  • Maintain High Standards Under Pressure: You'll uphold our commitment to excellence by ensuring accurate record-keeping and maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment at all times.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • At least 1 year of veterinary experience, with ER or high-volume experience preferred.
  • The ability to stay calm, composed, and efficient during a medical crisis.
  • Confidence and skill in handling pets, with proficiency in basic laboratory, pharmacy, and nursing skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • A flexible schedule, with availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
