Job Overview
The Software Systems/Applications Engineer will design innovative software/middleware within artificial intelligence and high-performance computing while contributing to the advancement of knowledge and technology within the university-wide AI(X) Hub. This will span 15 colleges and unlock the exponential possibilities that emerge when AI is fused with expertise across six strategic pillars (X): foundations, health, engineering and sciences, agriculture, cybersecurity and trustworthy AI. The institute is looking for a software systems/applications engineer to work with the project team members in designing and integrating solutions into the AI(X) compute, software and data infrastructure stack, hardening these solutions, testing these on modern high-performance GPU compute clusters, and making software releases.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or equivalent experience in computing related disciplines.
- 4 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive skills in programming in C, C++, Python, DL/ML/AI frameworks, CI/CD tools, version control systems, Linux (kernels, file systems, and drivers).
- Knowledge of modern computing (CPU and GPU), high-performance networking, and edge technologies and their trends.
Desired Qualifications
- 5 8 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work with a large team
- Willingness to learn new systems, technologies, and tools.
- Ability to work independently and resolve issues with minimal direction.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with programming/scripting.

The salary range for this position is $81,800.00 - $106,900.00 annually, however, the actual offered salary will be based on the selected candidates education and experience while being balanced with internal equity and the unit's available budget.
