The Ohio Department of Taxation is seeking multiple current law school students for our summer Legal Division Internship.

What's involved in being a Legal Intern:

As a legal intern, you will work directly with Department of Taxation attorneys in several areas, including administrative hearings, legislation, administrative rule making, and litigation. This position will allow you to connect your classroom knowledge, and tax technical training obtained during the internship, with real-world experience. Key duties may include:

Assist with administrative hearings and drafting legal decisions on tax assessments and refund adjustments.

Conduct research projects that impact policy proposals and implementation.

Learn substantive and procedural areas of state law.

Help provide legal advice and guidance to members of the Department regarding evolving tax practices and policies.

Provide input and support research to the Ohio Attorney General's Office and members of Taxation on tax matters before the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court.

Create educational materials on Ohio's tax laws for use by fellow taxpayers and employees.

Light administrative duties, including creating digitalized case files and reviewing taxpayer financial accounts.

What's in it for you:

$24 per hour, up to 40 hours a week during summer break

Convenient location 15 minutes north of downtown Columbus (with free parking)

Hands-on exposure to many of Ohio's taxes

Potential for part-time work during the school year and future employment upon graduation and licensure
