Engineering Intern (Asset Management & Quality Assurance)

The City of Dublin is looking to fill one internship vacancy in the Division of Asset Management and Quality Assurance. The purpose of the Engineering Internship is to provide students of undergraduate and graduate engineering studies with professional engineering experience in a public sector organization. The intent is to provide part-time employment in the engineering field as a complement to the student's academic studies.

• The ideal candidate will be available to work 10-15 hours per week during the school year and 30-40 hours per week during the summer.
• This is an in-person internship taking place in Dublin, Ohio with no remote opportunities at this time.
• This is a part time/seasonal position that is not eligible for comprehensive coverage such as vacation/sick leave, health, vision, or dental insurance.

Intern Pay Structure

• Undergraduate Freshman: $17.00/hour
• Undergraduate Sophomore: $17.50/hour
• Undergraduate Junior: $18.00/hour
• Undergraduate Senior: $18.50/hour
• First Year Graduate Student: $19.50/hour
• Second Year Graduate Student: $21.00/hour

Engineering Interns are expected to perform entry-level work involving infrastructure asset management and inspection. Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

• Read and interpret construction drawings and other technical documents
• Execute field measurements and basic calculations
• Perform asset condition inspections in the field
• Perform miscellaneous office tasks, which may include: data entry, filing, technical research and gathering of information
• Scan and file documents and drawings
• Respond to phone calls and emails from residents
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and access construction sites which may have uneven terrain
• Ability to work around moving traffic, work in active right-of-way and construction areas

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree seeking program
• Actively pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, or another related degree, from an ABET accredited college/university
• Possession of a valid driver's license
• Ability to work in-person in Dublin, Ohio (no remote opportunities available)
• Availability to work 10 hours per week during the school year and 30 hours per week during the summer

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the following types of software: GIS, MS Office, and mobile devices (iPad.)
• Prior engineering, development, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, or other related experience (professional, volunteer, student, etc.)
