Civil Engineer Land Development Job Type: Full Time Work Location: In Office Industry: Civil Engineering Land Development Job Summary Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with a strong background in land development to join their growing team. This role involves the design and coordination of site layouts, grading, utilities, and stormwater systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Civil 3D, knowledgeable in local zoning and land development regulations, and capable of managing projects from concept through completion. Key Responsibilities Use Civil 3D to design site layouts, grading plans, and utility systems for residential, commercial, and industrial developments Review municipal zoning ordinances, land development regulations, and agency requirements Perform utility service research and conduct site visits to establish design criteria and project feasibility Prepare concept plans based on client objectives and due diligence findings Coordinate with CAD technicians to produce accurate and complete construction documents Design and analyze stormwater management systems using Civil 3D and hydrology software Perform pipe sizing, drainage area mapping, and hydraulic grade line evaluations Develop grading plans that support efficient earthwork balance and site safety Plan and design stormwater, sanitary sewer, water, gas, and communication utility systems, including pump stations Identify and resolve vertical and horizontal utility conflicts Design erosion and sediment control measures and perform stability calculations Develop construction sequencing plans using best management practices for environmental compliance Prepare detailed cost estimates for site improvements to support bonding and budgeting requirements Mentor junior engineers and review design work to ensure quality standards are met Coordinate design activities and meetings with internal staff, subcontractors, and clients Plan, schedule, and complete work assignments within established budgets and timelines Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university Minimum of 4 years of land development or civil site design experience Professional Engineer license or actively working toward licensure Strong proficiency in Civil 3D with experience designing projects from concept through completion Work Environment and Physical Demands Primarily an office based role Requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, talking, and hearing Occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds May require overtime based on workload, including evenings or weekends Role requires in office presence during regular business hours due to collaboration and client meetings Occasional travel may be required Potential exposure to outdoor weather conditions, wet or humid environments, extreme temperatures, fumes, airborne particles, high places, and electrical hazards Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have supervisory responsibilities
