The S&I Developer Experience and Platform team is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join the Devopstronauts team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on future facing software engineering platforms. Our mission is to empower developers with the tools, experiences, and support they need to build faster, better, and with greater confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the build portfolio for Github, Software Engineering Environment (SEE), Harness, Artifactory, Feature Flags, SoD Automation, and RocketChat.
  • Participate in the enterprise-wide migration of GitHub Enterprise to GitHub Cloud, Jenkins and UCD to Harness and GitHub Actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions
  • Work independently and proactively within an Agile delivery model

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in software development with a focus on platform engineering, including building and maintaining scalable systems and tools
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, Typescript and Markdown language.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Harness)
  • Familiarity with artifact management tools like Artifactory or Nexus
  • Experience working with feature flagging systems and automation frameworks
  • Strong understanding of Git workflows and version control best practices
  • Experience operating in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Ability to design, build, and maintain scalable developer tools and platforms
  • Openness to leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to enhance productivity and accelerate delivery
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Experience:

  • Experience with Software Engineering Environment (SEE)
  • Familiarity with RocketChat or other developer communication platforms
  • Exposure to security and compliance automation (e.g., SoD Automation)
  • Knowledge of observability tools and practices
  • Open to utilizing AI technologies like GitHub CoPilot to accelerate developer output
  • Apigee Experience
  • Experience with server administration or infrastructure management (e.g., Linux systems, configuration management, monitoring)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including deploying and managing cloud-native applications

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, youll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.

  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

  • Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

  • Manages project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: Two or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle moderately sophisticated business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring managers leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
