Introduction
Our client is a hospital seeking an Emergency / Urgent Care Hybrid Veterinarian to join its 24-hour specialty and emergency veterinary center in Middletown, Connecticut. The hospital delivers comprehensive primary, specialty, urgent, and emergency care and is hiring an experienced veterinarian to manage emergency and urgent care cases within a collaborative, medicine-first environment. The practice treats companion animals as well as avian and exotic species, including birds, reptiles, and small mammals.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position. The hospital operates as a 24/7 emergency facility. Primary care services are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with specialty services offered by appointment. Specific doctor schedules, shift patterns, weekend rotations, and after-hours requirements are to be discussed with the practice.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Emergency / Urgent Care Hybrid Veterinarian will provide high-quality medical care across emergency and urgent care caseloads. Clinical responsibilities include assessment and treatment of critical and urgent patients, diagnostics, stabilization, internal medicine case management, and coordination of care with specialty services such as surgery, neurology, oncology, diagnostic imaging, and critical care. The role requires strong clinical decision-making, clear client communication, and close collaboration with specialty clinicians and support staff. This position is suited to an experienced veterinarian who thrives in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary hospital setting.

Practice Details
The hospital is a state-of-the-art 24-hour veterinary center offering complete primary, specialty, urgent, and emergency care. Facilities include advanced technology such as a high-field MRI, 64-slice CT scanner, telemetric monitoring systems, intensive care units, and a mechanical ventilator, along with an on-site reference laboratory. Services offered span internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology, surgery, diagnostic imaging, avian and exotics care, dentistry, preventive care, and critical care. The culture is doctor-led and medicine-focused, with a strong commitment to collaboration, education, and high clinical standards.

Team
The wider veterinary group includes nearly 70 DVMs, with each hospital supported by a highly experienced and tenured support team of technicians, assistants, and client liaisons. The working environment is collegial and collaborative, emphasizing teamwork and comprehensive patient support.

Candidate Requirements

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
