ResponsibilitiesOrganizational Impact:
As ESG Specialist, you will transform complex sustainability data into meaningful insights, enabling transparent reporting, informed decision-making, and long-term measurable improvements across our four business units. This role will report to the Director of Sustainability & Compliance within the Legal Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the overall collection, validation, documentation, and evaluation of ESG data, including but not limited to the company’s emissions-related data and social data, supplier survey and due diligence data, and customer survey data.
- Assist in drafting recurring submissions for various sustainability reporting, such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (“CSRD”) and the United Nations Global Compact Communication on Progress, as well as submissions to other scoring frameworks, such as CDP and EcoVadis.
- Maintain and update Sarnova’s GHG Inventory Management Plan, ensuring internal procedures and assumptions are well-documented, updated as the company grows, and aligned with relevant standards such as the GHG Protocol.
- Identify actionable sustainability gaps and opportunities to improve ESG data management and reporting processes. Collaborate with the Director of Sustainability & Compliance and other stakeholders to implement improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, operations, finance, quality, and other internal stakeholders to improve data quality and streamline data collection processes.
- Work directly with vendors and customers to gather necessary sustainability information to support ESG initiatives and reporting through surveys, questionnaires, independent research, and routine customer/vendor meetings.
- Manage responses to ESG-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, with support from the Director of Sustainability & Compliance.
Skills/Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree with a preference for an undergraduate or graduate degree in sustainability, environmental studies, energy management, or other relevant field.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of professional experience in ESG, sustainability, data/policy management, or related areas.
- Strong understanding of GHG data management and accounting principles and standards (e.g., GHG Protocol).
- Experience collecting and managing large quantities of data from multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate complex data and sustainability concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Self-motivated, goal oriented, and results driven.
- Strong sense of ethics, confidentiality and integrity
- Proficiency with data management tools; MS Excel (advanced) and Power BI preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience and familiarity with CSRD and other regulatory sustainability/ESG frameworks.
- Experience with sustainability reporting platforms and tools.
- Experience in the medical device or healthcare industries.
