Ohio EPA wants you to join our team as an environmental manager with the Division of Air Pollution Control (DAPC) at our Central Office in Columbus, Ohio.

Are you ready to lead efforts ensuring clean air across our state?

We're looking for a person who's results-focused to manage DAPC's permit review and development section, which is a team of skilled specialists that evaluate and write air pollution permits to ensure compliance with state and federal air pollution regulations.

Solid communication and planning skills are essential as you organize daily workflow and activities, set section goals, and monitor progress to achieving those goals. You'll design and deliver training to make sure staff have adequate subject knowledge and handle employee development, performance reviews, and hiring.

You'll coordinate complex projects, facilitate internal and external working groups, and assist district offices, local air agencies, permittees, the public, and government officials with permit-related questions and issues. You'll organize responses to inquiries and appeal resolutions and provide testimony on appeals as needed.

You'll visit unique facilities throughout the state to observe and troubleshoot permitting issues, assist with review of air policies, rules and legislation, and expand your knowledge base to become a trusted technical expert.

  • ENGINEERING OR ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SCIENCE PREFERRED

  • 6 yrs. trg. or 6 yrs. exp. in position involving engineering or chemistry, physics, biology &/or comparable science field &/or mathematics &/or history &/or archaeology which included responsibility for developing, coordinating & implementing programs for specific environmental area (e.g., air pollution; water pollution; solid/hazardous waste planning; AND ecological impact assessment; water quality monitoring & assessment; ground water or laboratory services); AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. as lead worker or supervisor or in administrative capacity. Note: Training &/or experience must correspond to environmental area to be assigned. Positions in Environmental Protection Agency's solid waste program, excluding positions in solid waste planning unit, also require valid Ohio certificate of registration as sanitarian or valid Ohio certificate as sanitarian-in-training.
