Part Time Security Officer

Job Description:

We are seeking a dependable and alert Security Officer to safeguard our client’s premises, employees, and visitors during overnight hours. The ideal candidate will have strong observational skills, a professional attitude, and the ability to handle incidents calmly and effectively. This is a physically active role that requires standing, walking, and sometimes lifting or moving equipment or barriers as needed.

Officers must be prepared to work independently, respond to emergencies, and perform duties in various weather conditions, including rain, heat, or cold.

Shift Hours:

Friday 23:00-07:00

Sunday 11:00-23:00

Opportunity to work FLEX at a sister site in Morganton along with set hours above.

Responsibilities:

• Patrol assigned areas on foot to establish a visible presence and ensure safety

• Monitor and control access to buildings, entrances, and restricted areas

• Lock and secure doors, windows, and other access points after hours

• Deter and remove trespassers or suspicious individuals from the property

• Monitor security systems and surveillance cameras for unusual activity

• Respond quickly to alarms, disturbances, or emergency situations

• Assist visitors, staff, or clients in need, maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor

• Write accurate and detailed reports on daily activity, observations, and incidents

• Lift and move light to moderately heavy items, such as traffic barriers, signage, or safety equipment (up to ~50 lbs)

• Climb stairs, walk long distances, and remain on foot for extended periods

• Perform duties outdoors and indoors, including during inclement weather

• Follow all safety protocols and company policies at all times

Requirements & Skills:

• Previous experience as a Security Officer or Guard ( preferred)

• Valid security license or registration or able to obtain(as required by state/local law)

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Strong understanding of public safety regulations and legal procedures

• Familiarity with surveillance systems and mobile technology

• Excellent observation, communication, and report-writing skills

• First Aid/BLS certification and basic self-defense training (preferred)

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk or stand for long periods, and respond quickly to incidents

• Comfortable working outdoors and in varied weather conditions

• Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision

• Maintains professionalism and composure in high-pressure or emergency situation 

• Able to medically, mentally, and physically perform duties as assigned. Any assistance in performing duties that are protected by ADA should be disclosed beforehand so the company can accommodate.

Work Environment:

• This is a non-smoking facility — all staff must comply with our smoke-free policy while on site

• Work may be performed indoors or outdoors, including in poor weather conditions

• May involve physical exertion such as lifting, climbing stairs, standing, and walking for long periods
