Responsibilities:
  • Lead Core Lab operations to ensure accurate, timely, cost-effective, and high-quality testing services.
  • Partner with the Senior Director to establish testing systems, staffing plans, and schedules that support efficient service delivery.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage departmental budgets, aligning operational needs with marketing and organizational goals.
  • Drive quality assurance initiatives and lead continuous improvement efforts within chemistry and related disciplines.
  • Collaborate with Medical and Technical Directors to create and maintain policies that align with CLIA '88, CAP, and other regulatory requirements; ensure ongoing CAP readiness and support inspection activities.
  • Oversee validation and verification of new assays and instrumentation; assess test menus and recommend enhancements.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support Core Lab team leaders and technical staff, ensuring consistent communication, training, and performance management.
  • Manage HR-related documentation-including timecards, performance reviews, and training records-and ensure timely completion.
  • Work collaboratively across departments on projects, sales initiatives, and organizational priorities.
  • Prepare and submit monthly operational reports including quality metrics, productivity, financial performance, and budget variances.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards; contribute to policy development and refinement.
  • Provide technical consultation to clients such as hospitals, laboratories, physician offices, and industry partners.
  • Maintain up-to-date procedure manuals in accordance with established document control guidelines.
  • Support education and training activities for students, residents, and fellows; ensure staff competency and ongoing professional growth.
  • Promote and uphold departmental safety initiatives and foster a strong culture of safety aligned with company policies.
  • Represent the department professionally, building external relationships and championing process improvements across the organization.
  • Perform additional technical, administrative, or educational duties as needed to support company's mission.

Qualifications:
  • Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist with ASCP certification.
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience with demonstrated competency, sound judgment, and reliable decision-making.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively.
  • Potential exposure to biological or chemical hazards.
  • Visual acuity and fine motor skills to perform computer-based and laboratory tasks for extended periods.
  • High level of accuracy and integrity in performing tests and reporting results.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Maintain professionalism and composure in fast-paced or stressful environments.
  • Possible exposure to biohazardous and chemical materials; strict adherence to all safety, ergonomic, and health policies is required.
  • Follow PPE requirements and complete all mandatory safety training and health evaluations on schedule.
  • Actively identify, report, and address safety risks; encourage a strong safety-focused workplace culture.
