The Enterprise Innovation and Digital Office is part of NWs Customer Service, Strategy & Innovation Office. The Nationwide Financial Customer & Business Innovation team focuses on identifying and driving growth opportunities that are strategically aligned, customer centric, and leverage Nationwides capabilities. The NF Innovation team works in close partnership with NF business units but also has the mandate to develop new business opportunities outside of current core areas.

The product manager supports the creation of the strategy, roadmap, and requirements with a cross-functional team of researchers, engineers, designers, business experts, and partner managers. Successful candidates will make key recommendations regarding: feature set, scope, pricing, and design features; and will test and iterate on how to solve business problems in new and meaningful ways. The product manager will help to promote key initiatives that address product strategy and growth objectives and will have the opportunity to work with emerging technologies.

The ideal candidate will have experience leveraging Emerging Technologies as we look to deploy up-and-coming technologies to solve client & business problems.

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

Due to the business needs of the role, this position must be able to work hybrid from the Columbus Ohio offices.

Job Description Summary

Are you agile across all stages of product development - initiation, solution design, launch, and ongoing maintenance of products? Can you balance strategy, design, profitability and growth? If so, then we want to know more about you!

As a Consultant, Innovation Product Management, youll be a member of a cross-functional team, identifying strategically attractive opportunities for commercialization and delivering opportunity assessments that balance desirability, feasibility, and viability. You will coordinate research and concept design and, under the direction of your director or a senior consultant, shepherd the opportunity through build and incubate. You will make recommendations and influence decision making on feature set, scope, go-to-market plans, pricing and design features. Throughout the entire innovation process, you will coordinate across the enterprise, including technology and design resources as well as Legal, Compliance and Marketing.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicates and collaborates across the organization with cross-functional teams such as Technology, M arketing, S ales, P ublic R elations, E nterprise R isk, D ata and A nalytics organizations, technologists , business , and finance leads to ensure the best outcome .

  • Independently or at the direction of a more senior product manager (depending on scope), translates consumer and end-user needs into products, services, and experiences that solve need s and deliver value . L everages desirability , viability , feasibility and build/buy/partner frameworks in the development of solutions.

  • Working with key business partners, identifies digital product vision and feature roadmap, accordingly.

  • Stays on top of market trends and emerging technology to suggest new and enhanced digital capabilities.

  • Continually assesses and integrates internal and external customer feedback, competitive insights and business metrics back into the vision and feature roadmap to optimize the user experience and increase business value.

  • M anages solution discovery process, including development and execution of the learning plan through primary and secondary research, rapid prototyping, MVP development and in in-market experimentation and iteration independently or at the direction of a more senior product manager .

  • Ensure s learning plan is aligned with intended business outcomes, has set KPIs and leading/lagging indicators and that actual results are measured and compared to plan to facilitate pivots and decision-making.

  • Partners with User Experience (UX) to align on customer usability of solution , User Interface design, and user research efforts to gain customer validation and make adjustments to solutions based on results.

  • Prioritizes and leads solution development by directing the agile development team in alignment with the developed roadmap.

  • Partners with UX and Nationwide Technology to establish and deliver development of products and customer experiences in alignment with the roadmap, balancing speed, cost and quality to ensure learning objectives as well as business outcomes are met.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned .

Reporting Relationships : Reports to Director, Innovation Product Management. This is an individual contributor role.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education:

Undergraduate studies in business administration, digital marketing, human-computer interaction, product management and design, data science, statistics, user experience or related subject area , MBA preferred.

Experience:

Typically, eight or more years of customer-facing consumer or business product development and product management experience, including defining, launching, and/or optimizing products and services. Experience with either front-end (explore and design) or back-end (build and commercial launch / incubate ) for customer-facing products. E xperience in digital sales, website and mobile application development and/or research.

Knowledge , Abilities and Skills :

Proven general knowledge of product development and lifecycle management processes, the ability to execute methodically, and deep customer empathy and curiosity thats paired with knowledge in how to capture and synthesize consumer needs. Understanding of agile planning and delivery methodologies in a digital product management environment. Outstanding written and verbal communication . Demonstrated experience in analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions. Strong project and process management skills . Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Capable of negotiating and interacting with cross-functional leaders, internal and external partners. Strategic problem solver with the ability to identify innovative and creative ways to bring digital experiences to life and solve key business problems. Proven e xperience participating in large, company-wide projects.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
