Job Title: Landscape Contracts Specialist Department: Administration and Planning | FOD Operations Landscape Roads and Grounds

The Landscape Contract Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective, safe, and visually appealing management of outdoor spaces across the university and Wexner Medical Center campuses. This role oversees landscape maintenance contracts to maintain the aesthetic, environmental, and functional quality of lawns, gardens, athletic fields, walkways, and other exterior environments. The position supports sustainable practices, enforces compliance with university standards and regulatory requirements, and ensures exceptional outdoor experiences for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage landscape maintenance contracts for university and medical center grounds.
  • Ensure contractors adhere to landscape management plans, schedules, and performance standards.
  • Coordinate routine care, seasonal plantings, and special projects within budget and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and reporting.
  • Conduct contractor training, quality inspections, and performance evaluations.
  • Assist with procurement strategies for landscape services and supplies.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for contracted services.
  • Maintain inventory of all capital and non-capital assets for the department.
  • Respond to after-hours or emergency situations, including storm damage and hazardous conditions.

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
    • Four (4) years of experience in landscape management, groundskeeping, horticulture, or facilities operations (preferably in university or commercial settings).
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Strong verbal and written communication, coordination, and planning skills.
    • Valid drivers license.
  • Desired:
    • Working knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems, plant care, pest management, and landscape design principles.
    • 4-8 years experience in landscape management, groundskeeping, horticulture, or facilities operations (preferably in university or commercial settings).
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to urgent situations.
    • Ability to read and interpret landscape plans and blueprints; familiarity with codes and safety standards.
    • Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Experience with landscape management software or CMMS systems.
    • Knowledge of sustainable landscaping practices and native plantings.
    • Commitment to staying current with industry best practices, software, and regulatory requirements.
Additional Information:

The target hiring range for this job profile is $70,100-$91,600 annually. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
