Position Description:
The Paralegal, Real Estate and Commercial Lending role completes various administrative and substantive legal support tasks with supervision as required. This role will be responsible for preparing and reviewing legal documents and maintaining various spreadsheets and files with supervision. This position will focus on supporting the Ameritas enterprise commercial mortgage lending and real estate practice areas and other duties as assigned. This position requires a high degree of attention to detail, organizational skills and accuracy. The ideal candidate is a lifelong learner, accountable to deadlines, proactive, and a team player.
Position Location:
This is a hybrid role working partially in-office (Cincinnati, OH or Lincoln, NE) and partially from home.
What you do:
- Regularly act as a point of contact and interface with internal associates and business leaders, and persons outside of Ameritas, including title insurance companies, mortgage bankers and borrower representatives.
- Assist attorneys with a variety of legal tasks associated with commercial mortgage lending transactions including, but not limited to, the preparation of commercial loan documents, reviewing and summarizing ALTA surveys, title insurance commitments, exception documents and other ancillary documentation as well as preparing written responses.
- Review and analyze borrower entity and loan authorization documentation and summarize for attorneys.
- Provide document preparation and related support for the enterprises commercial real estate leasing, acquisition, and disposition activities as well as joint venture arrangements.
- Monitor, track and handle various aspects of commercial mortgage loan and real estate transactions, both pre-closing as well as post-closing follow-up.
- Regularly handle sensitive and/or confidential materials with the utmost confidence and highest ethical standards.
What you bring:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Paralegal studies or other post high school degree preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in a Paralegal, Underwriter, Escrow Agent, or Loan Officer Assistant or other role with a similar skillset required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel) and internet usage required.
- Real estate and/or commercial mortgage lending or title insurance experience desired.
- Familiarity or experience with HotDocs Advance, or similar document generation programs, preferred.
