Job Description
Responsible for the development of sourcing and savings strategies to support the packaging Materials Management strategy while ensuring we have a sustainable supply chain to support the business. Will use your strong procurement and analytical experience to comprehensively diagnose the procurement needs of each customer to build a road map for strategic sourcing solutions while building and strengthening relationships with clients and vendors as well as ensuring solutions are developed and delivered on time and against operational and financial business targets. Additionally, has responsibility for establishing and maintaining packaging materials management supplier relationships and measuring supplier performance against key metrics. This includes responsibility for all sourcing and contract management strategies and activities, delivering the strategic vision and goals of the business and ensuring execution of all common sourcing strategies including supplier management, quality, utilization of sourcing tools and reporting, with a strong focus on cost savings activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the supplier contracting process and negotiations in partnership with DHL legal contract team to include pricing, volume, and rebate negotiations
- Develop, execute, and monitor packaging materials supplier relationship management program
- Ensure continuity of supply through the development of excellent supplier partnerships ensuring full awareness of Business Continuity plans.
- Enables materials supplier management through a robust category strategy and aligned contractual structures. Collaborates on critical supplier oversight, securing compliance to contracted terms and relevant socially responsible regulations and policies.
- Ensures standardized sourcing process is consistently implemented and followed
- Drive value across the packaging spend categories through the creation of category strategies and continuous execution of the category strategy
- Develop and execute a supplier segmentation sourcing strategy for spend categories that will drive measurable improvements in the areas of customer satisfaction, compliance and cost benefits.
- Conduct RFPs for new and existing business, analyze data and develop recommendations for packaging materials and customer specific solutions
- Clearly understand the spend and demand landscape, leverage market intelligence & industry knowledge, drive collaboration and accelerate execution, resulting in the best available value across the packaging supply chain, quality, service levels, innovation, and cost parameters.
- Use spend data analytics, market research, benchmarks, and cost modeling to identify and leverage high value opportunities that deliver innovative and sustainable value including growth and margin improvement, operational efficiencies, and risk mitigation to the business
- Develop and delivers clear, concise, and well-structured written and oral communication to clients, team members, account leadership and senior management around sourcing strategies and recommendations
- Identify metrics, technology tools, and processes to optimize sourcing and supplier activities.
- Identify the needs for continual process improvement and innovation across sourcing, contracting, and analytics; developing a standard of metrics using benchmark data to assist in measuring sourcing performance against goals and industry best practices
- Resolve any major materials supply chain or supplier issues that arise.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Business, Print Management, Supply Chain, Materials Management, related field or equivalent 4 years work experience, required
- 8+ years of industry experience and deep understanding of print, display manufacturing and operations and a clear understanding of the materials marketplace required
- Minimum 5 years Strategic Sourcing, Negotiating and Contracting required
- Development of supplier sourcing strategies required
- Have experience of ISO/ISR audits and audit procedures preferred
- Have excellent MS Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
- Experience developing processes, systems and tools to drive efficiency preferred
- New business start-up experience preferred
- Knowledge of packaging materials manufacturing and procurement required
- Have in-depth knowledge of display production cycle, including Warehousing, Fulfilment and Distribution required
- Operations background preferred
- Project management experience required
- High proficiency in Microsofts suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and Project) required
- Strong analytic skills required
- Oracle and MRP tools experience preferred
- Have strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task, and a flexible, logical and proactive approach required
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the given audience and influence outcomes. Can present information in a clear and concise manner required
