1. Education & Licensing
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Enrollment or completion of a carpentry apprenticeship (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- OSHA 10 or other construction safety certification (preferred)
2. Technical Knowledge
- Basic understanding of carpentry techniques, materials, and tools
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and project plans
- Familiarity with hand and power tools (saws, drills, levels, squares, nail guns, etc.)
- Knowledge of measuring, cutting, fitting, and assembling wood or other building materials
- Understanding of framing, finishing, formwork, and basic layout
3. Skills & Abilities
- Assist journeyman or lead carpenters in building, installing, or repairing structures
- Perform accurate measurements, cuts, and alignments under supervision
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and position materials
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment properly
4. Physical & Safety Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
- Comfortable with standing, bending, climbing, and kneeling for long periods
- Willingness to work outdoors and in various weather conditions
- Strong focus on job site safety and PPE use (hard hat, gloves, boots, eye/ear protection)
- Awareness of fall protection and ladder safety procedures
5. Soft Skills
- Punctual and dependable work habits
- Team-oriented attitude and ability to follow direction
- Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
- Willingness to learn new skills and take on increasing responsibility
- Good communication skills with supervisors and coworkers
6. Optional / Bonus Qualifications
- Experience in residential, commercial, or framing carpentry
- Basic math skills for layout, measuring, and estimating materials
- Familiarity with building codes and site plans
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Experience with concrete formwork, drywall, or finish carpentry
