1. Education and License
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- High School Degree or GED
2. Technical Knowledge
- Basic understanding of electrical theory, wiring methods, and safety protocols
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Familiarity with tools, meters, and test equipment (multimeter, conduit bender, etc.)
- Knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) and local electrical codes
- Understanding of residential, commercial, and/or light industrial wiring systems
3. Skills & Abilities
- Ability to assist journeyman electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems
- Competence in running conduit, pulling wire, and terminating connections
- Troubleshooting minor electrical problems under supervision
- Basic math skills for calculating loads, conduit fill, and wire sizing
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
4. Physical & Safety Requirements
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in confined spaces or at heights
- Comfortable with standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods
- Ability to work safely around energized equipment and follow lockout/tagout procedures
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, etc.
5. Soft Skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Punctuality and reliability — consistent attendance is key
- Willingness to learn and take direction from senior electricians or foremen
- Positive attitude and commitment to career growth in the electrical trade
6. Optional / Bonus Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
- First Aid/CPR training
- Experience with conduit bending, control wiring, or motor connections
- Familiarity with construction site protocols
