Scope of Position
The Ohio State Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. The Supervisor, Facilities Operations functions to support the Medical Center's day-to-day operations with functional and financial management of associates assigned to building operations and maintenance.
Position Summary
The Supervisor, Facilities Operations is responsible for all managerial functions for designated facilities operations employees. This includes associates from the Mechanical Systems, Electric and Electronic Systems, and Building Systems shops. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, repairs and projects of the Medical Center facilities. This includes, but is not limited to electric, plumbing, medical gas, beds, fire alarms, material handling system, HVAC/R and general repair and upkeep of the building environment and life safety compartments. This position encompasses communication, coordination, and regulatory compliance for all assigned areas. This position is responsible for the supervision of all assigned personnel and for the operations and regulatory compliance of the assigned areas, designated systems, and equipment. The position is responsible for inspecting, assessing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating personnel performance and will prioritize personnel and shop activities related to the maintaining of the facilities grounds and buildings.
Areas and equipment are operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. May cover for other supervisors due to absence and vacation, as necessary. The supervisor is subject to call back. Responsibilities include actively promoting the Medical Centers mission, vision and values in support of an absolute customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire: Bachelors degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) years progressive supervisory experience required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in healthcare facilities maintenance. Knowledge of general maintenance, plumbing, electric and HVAC/R. Knowledge of applicable codes and regulatory requirements. Experience with PC based engineering and office applications. Experience with facilities computerized maintenance management systems and devices. Able to read and interpret blueprints. Valid motor vehicle operators license.
Ongoing:
- Meets mandatory safety and educational requirements.
- Demonstrates compliance in technical and interpersonal skills required to meet job expectations.
- Knowledge of National Fire Protection (NFPA), National Electric Code (NEC), Ohio Basic Building Code (OBBC), Joint Commission, and other regulatory agency requirements for compliance; takes appropriate action when needed.
