Underground Laborer

Couey’s CATV is seeking an Underground Laborer to join our growing team. This role is critical in supporting our underground utility construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation of underground utilities such as fiber optic and coaxial cable.
• Dig trenches manually or with mechanical tools.
• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
• Support directional drill operators and locators with setup, operation, and clean-up.
• Identify and avoid existing underground utilities using locating equipment and maps.
• Restore job sites to original condition after work is completed, including backfilling and reseeding.
• Operate small machinery, hand tools, and other construction equipment safely.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and vehicles.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with traffic control measures and flagging as required.
• Report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or delays to supervisors immediately.
• Work in varying weather and soil conditions and maintain physical stamina throughout shifts.
• Comply with all company policies, DOT regulations, and safety standards.

Requirements

• Must be able to pass a DOT physical
• Must pass a pre-employment and ongoing drug screening
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
