Working closely with University Libraries Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications, the Senior Digital Content Specialist focuses on planning, creation, management and analysis of compelling digital content for web, intranet, social media and other digital channels to align with University Libraries priorities and overall marketing strategy.
The Senior Digital Content Specialist is responsible for creating high-quality digital content, optimizing findability and distributing it through relevant digital channels. This includes but not limited to website(s), blog, email, intranet pages, online public directories, partner digital outlets and social media.

Responsibilities include:
Digital Content Creation and Management:
Producing and creatively repurposing a wide variety of digital content, including social media, articles, videos, graphics and intranet posts, to raise awareness, promote and increase engagement with University Libraries, its programs and initiatives.
Facilitating monthly brainstorming meetings on social media content planning; communicating regularly with all areas within University Libraries for strategic digital content idea generation.
Identifying ways to build compelling and engaging web content for key audiences; researching and staying abreast of digital trends and best practices.
Managing digital content calendars and collaborating across University Libraries teams to implement digital strategy.
Building relationships with internal partners, University units and freelancers (as needed) to develop and amplify digital content.
Participating in University-wide Communities of Practice (e.g., email, UX, social media).
Website Expertise:
Serving as lead for website content optimization, regularly auditing University Libraries website, overseeing content updates and partnering with page editors.
Training University Libraries website editors on use of website (Drupal), email (Salesforce Marketing Cloud) and intranet (Simpplr) and provide ongoing support.
Using HTML to code elements when more complex webpages or edits are needed, at times in partnership with University Libraries Information Technology unit, building pages and providing ongoing maintenance.
Participating in ongoing training to understand and implement digital accessibility best practices supporting University Libraries goals.
Reporting website metrics, implementing SEO best practices and benchmarking.
Social Media & Email:
Serving as social media and email lead for the unit, providing guidance to departmental account managers and training/consultations.
Acting as primary point of contact for Office of Marketing and Communications social media and email team(s) and other partner teams across campus or region.
Managing paid social media campaigns to promote Libraries programs and initiatives.
Building regular emails to University Libraries donors and supporters using university HTML templates and Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform.
Measuring and reporting performance of digital social media and email marketing campaigns, assessing against goals and offering recommendations for optimizing and improvement.
Other:
Managing and building departmental intranet content, facilitating internal communications through approval, editing and posting of internal announcements.
Assisting with digital personnel announcements in collaboration with Libraries Human Resources (HR), supporting HR and representing our department with orientation presentations.
Overseeing the recruitment and hiring process for student employees, provides ongoing management of student employees.
Supporting photography needs at University Libraries events when needed.
Understanding and utilizing appropriate tone and brand with digital copywriting and visual design.
All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelors degree in journalism, communications or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience in marketing or digital communications environment.
At least 4 years of experience managing organizational social media accounts (multiple platforms), website pages, digital communications and video production.
Proficiency in common social media platforms, website and content management systems, social media scheduling/monitoring tools and video production.
Strong copywriting and digital content development skills with knowledge of AP style.
Demonstrated experience developing digital content and successfully implementing multi-channeled campaigns.
Proven capability in performance reporting of digital marketing campaigns, including strategic optimizing tactics.
Comfortable with learning new tools and digital trainings.
Self-directed, responsible and demonstrates excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Desired:
Knowledge of photography, design and Adobe Creative Suite
A collaborative, solutions-oriented 'all-hands-on-deck' mindset.
Experience working in a complex organization with multiple target audiences.
The posting range for this position is $ $64,900-$75,000 annually.
