- Collect topographic field data for surveys using specialized surveying equipment and software.
- Utilize maps, drawings, plans, and aerial photographs to assess project requirements.
- Assist in recovering survey control and monumentation, performing construction layout, obtaining invert and subsurface utility information, and conducting photo documentation.
- Apply surveying knowledge and advanced mathematics techniques.
- Maintain survey equipment and coordinate necessary repairs.
- Stay updated on surveying practices, guidelines, and best practices.
- Research project documentation, deeds, and plats, set up project binders, and download data.
- Prepare drawings and maps using Carlson Survey, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation as needed.
Essential Skills
- Strong understanding of surveying techniques and land survey practices.
- Experience with survey equipment such as Total Station, Topcon Data Collectors, Robotic, and GPS equipment.
- Proficient in using survey-related software such as Carlson Survey, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior surveying experience is strongly preferred.
- Willingness to work outdoors year-round.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to company standards.
- Consideration for candidates with relevant degrees in survey or engineering fields, even without working experience.
Work Environment This role involves working almost entirely in the field, with 95% of projects located in Central Ohio, primarily within the 270 area. The survey group covers various disciplines including Builder Services, Commercial Site Development, Land Development, and smaller projects such as boundary surveys and lot splits. Our work environment offers opportunities for growth, personalized training with a licensed surveyor, and local project assignments.
