Job Purpose

Ensure that products delivered to the customer meet the agreed quality standards and conducts customer/internal audits. Embeds and deploys ALPS Quality Management with high priority and maintains quality certifications. Manages the sites quality control department and shading department in response to customer complaints and continuous improvement as it pertains to QC and color matching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effectively plans and controls all QC resources to ensure internal and external customer needs are met.
  • Manages the Site Quality Management System and the certification to ISO9001 system, amongst other specific business standards.
  • Manages the processes related to the final batch testing of all relevant products and for periodic product review, and ensures Quality Control of tolling sites is being managed effectively and efficiently as per defined inspection plans.
  • Ensures processes and standards are in place, and followed by QC employees to ensure the number of batch adjustments/hits are kept to an optimal level. An escalation process is place if adjustments/hits go beyond a certain level.
  • Promotes quality systems awareness through regular communication with all associates.
  • Leads and ensures all activity is by procedure; looks for opportunities for improvement through utilization of lean principles (ALPS).
  • Assembles teams to perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) for non-conforming internal batches.
  • Partners with RD&I to ensure New Product Introduction procedures to production are in place and followed. This includes inter-company product transfers.
  • Partners with RD&I and Production to keep abreast of leading edge technologies to build and optimize quality into end-to-end process e.g. In-Line Testing.
  • Prepares and guides customer audits and internal audits, maintains quality certifications (e.g. ISO) implement quality standards and systems.
  • Organizes meetings with Sales, Technical Business Partners and QC to evaluate customer satisfaction and actively participates in the investigation of customer complaints and delivery of associated improvement plans.
  • Actively shares best practice within the Quality network/community.
  • Is familiar and complies with all the applicable corporate, site, and laboratory policies/procedures with regard to personal conduct, HSE, and Product Safety & Regulatory Affairs (PSRA) standards.
  • Inspires commitment to AkzoNobels purpose, vision, strategy, core principles, values and leadership behaviors.
  • Acts as an ambassador and creates an open environment in which the team as a whole and its members individually can perform at their best.
  • Stimulates, manages and follows through on employee engagement and builds on the workforce to reflect the societies and markets in which we do business (D&I).
  • Ensures that job profiles are in place, sets objectives for team members, reviews development and provides clear, open and constructive feedback on performance combined with the appropriate actions.
  • Strengthens the talent pipeline by developing talent and regularly assesses and discusses talent and internal movement. Continuously monitors and evaluates retention risk.
  • Ensures reporting line is fully informed and acts in line with HSE and Compliance regulations.
  • Manages and plans relevant budgets and proactively manages costs.
  • Reports on progress on a continuous base.
Job Responsibilities
  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering or an alternate field of specialization will be considered depending on the nature of the degree, work experience or other training or combination thereof.
  • Minimum of 7 years of quality systems experience/education.
  • Process mapping and development, statistical tools such as Gage R&R, DOE and other MSA tools are required.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) is a must.
  • Experience in an SAP environment desirable.
  • Team oriented problem-solving skills and large team leadership experience is required.
  • Must understand the fundamentals of business management systems and the standards that govern them (e.g., ISO9000, TS16949, etc.)
Compensation & Benefit

Base salary range for this role is: $114,000 to $133,000. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
