The Project Manager provides Leadership and Management via four Core Accountability Roles: Execute Proposals; Execute Projects; Leading Sales & Supporting Business Development; and Mentoring & Training on PMO standards. Project manager is accountable for the proper execution of professional responsibilities in accordance with company’s Ownership Values, Quality Assurance, and PMO processes and procedures.
Possess the knowledge to assume full authority for decisions relating to the execution of projects per the Salas O’Brien Way, and the supervision of technical and administrative staff who are executing the project.
Core Responsibilities Execute Proposals- Engage the Operations Managers and the Project Management Organization (PMO) to assure effective staffing of proposals. Initiate the planning, scheduling, executing and reporting process for workload, which is coordinated with within the office.
- Coordinate the development of inputs needed to establish proposal scope and cost estimates and oversee the processes by which proposals are kept on schedule and within
- Lead business development leaders, Proposal Managers and Discipline Leaders in the preparation of proposals including risk
- Implement the PMO process for proposal development and take responsibility for assembling each discipline's portion of the proposal accurately, on schedule and within the proposal budget.
- Integrate individual discipline content together to provide a comprehensive proposal approach that minimizes overlap or gaps.
- Ensure the use of Salas O’Brien's quality plan and procedures for all proposals.
- Prepare Proposal Input Sheets to the Functional Leaders for each proposal team member to document their performance.
- Monitor and control employee time, proposal expenses and schedules pertaining to your assigned proposals.
- Support Operations Manager in determining workload prioritization and staff availability for pursuing or accepting new work.
- Engage the Operations Managers to assure effective staffing of projects. Initiate the planning, scheduling, executing and reporting process for workload, which is coordinated with within the office.
- Drive adoption and compliance to the Salas O’Brien Way through:
- Following best practices for managing project performance by leading completion of and integration of all discipline's scope of work within the project’s schedule and budget.
- Ensure the use of Salas O’Brien QMS quality plan and procedures for all work performed within the project. Monitor personnel to assure that the quality plan is being implemented effectively.
- Monitor and control employee time, project expenses, and schedules pertaining to your assigned projects.

- Maintain and grow Salas O-Brien’s business with existing clients through executing project delivery.
- Initiate consideration and pursuit of new Business Development opportunities utilizing Business Development & Marketing Team.
- Participate in trade shows, qualification package preparation and client presentations.
- Provide for development and effective utilization of staff through project assignments, training and non-traditional assignments.
- Work with the PMO Leader and Operations management to Develop, document and maintain the standards and procedures necessary for staff to perform their duties.
- Work with the PMO Leader and Operations management to Identify training opportunities for the staff and encourage an atmosphere of lifelong learning and technical development.
- Administer and support Salas O-Brien’s training and mentoring program (coordinated through the PMO leader).
- Bachelor’s degree or advance degree in engineering or related project management field with minimum five years’ experience running projects exclusively as project manager.
- Possess a PMP accreditation; or similar level of accreditation.
- Two or more years’ experience successfully executing single or multi-discipline complex projects between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 annually directing professional and technical personnel on executing scope, schedule, budget, quality and safety. At least two projects per year should be over $250,000 in engineering services value.
- Work will primarily be performed in an office environment.
- Work will occasionally be performed at construction sites or areas, operating manufacturing facilities, and clients' offices.
- Work does not typically require lifting or moving of heavy loads.
- Work may involve travel to clients' facilities.
